HOW WELL CAN YOUR HAIR HOLD MOISTURE????

Video # 2

I recently made this little video as an experimental and educational video only. This is a short and educational video intended for educational purposes only. This is my very first video and I know it could have been better but I just wnated to give an example of how easy it is to make a video for free. It was pretty fun making it to may I add!!! Happy watching!!! P.S. sorry for the bad quality and the poor choice of coloring for some of my text. As I stated, it was free to make so you get what they offer. Just have fun with it!!! For the full article on Hair Porosity, my article is below.

Low Porosity Natural Hair Regimen Inspirational Low Porosity and High Porosity Hair Tips that Actually🚨🚨🚨 What is your hair's porosity ? 🚨🚨🚨

Hair porosity simply refers to your hair's ability to absorb and retain moisture, and here are three ways to determine where your hair falls on the porosity scale: low, medium and high.

natural hair porosity float test
  1. The Float Test: Take some strands of your hair from your brush or comb, make sure it's clean hair. (Hair products can alter your results) Drop the hair into a cup or bowl of water. Let it sit for a few minutes. If your hair floats after the time is up, then you have low porosity hair. If it floats to the middle then you have medium porosity hair, if it floats to the bottom then you have high porosity hair.
  2. The Strand Test: Take a strand of your hair and put it in between your fingers and slide your fingers upward towards your scalp, if you feel bumps along the strands of your hair then you have high porosity hair. If you have a smooth shaft then your cuticle is bound tight and you have low porosity hair.
  3. The Spray Bottle Test: Take a small section of your hair and spray it with water. Watch closely. If the water beads up on your hair, then you have low porosity hair. If your hair immediately absorbs the water then you have high porosity hair. If the water sits on your hair for a minute before absorbing then you have medium porosity hair.
Be sure to take some time and determine which porosity category your hair falls into before wasting a lot of money and buying products that you THINK will work. Now continue to read for some great tips on how to care for each type of hair.

Low Porosity Hair  means your hair is resistant to moisture which may also mean, getting moisture into your hair is a job in itself. Good thing is though, once it's in you can rest assured  a little as you won't have to worry about your hair drying out easily. Con to having low porosity hair also means that your hair is prone to build up. Especially from products that are rich in protein.

What to use:
  • Protein-free daily conditioners and moisturizers. These should also have humectants (moisture attracting products such as honey or glycerin).
  • Moisture -rich products such as jojoba oils, shea butter, coconut oil, or mineral oil.
  • LIquid based products or products that are lighter in texture help prevent product build up.

Medium Porosity Hair Is when your hair has a loser cuticle layer which allows for a more steady and moderate flow of moisture to and from your hair. Medium porosity hair is great at retaining chemicals such as hair dyes and styling chemicals. Thats means you need to be cautious on what you are putting in your hair. Frequent use of these chemicals can slowly INCREASE the porosity of your hair making it more difficult to maintain such styles and treatments.

What to use:
  • Stay away from a daily protein regimen. Instead, PERIODICALLY treat your hair with a protein product.
  • Avoid overuse of styling products.
  • Avoid regullarly blow drying, curling, straightening, and coloring your hair.
  • Protect it from the harmful weather conditions s much as possible.
  • Use non-penetrating oils as they have larger particles and they work on the surface of the hair by smoothing and softening the hair.
  • Regeneration of Medium porosity hair should be based around oils and silicones 9be careful with the silicones as they work in different ways for different hair types).

High Porosity Hair Means your hair has gaps and holes in the hair cuticle. This means that moisture passes through quickly in and out. This can lead to frizz tangle in the humid weather and extreme dryness in the dry weather. You want to be very careful on the type of activities you do such as swimming because this can lead to breakage.

Leave In Conditioner For High Porosity Hair How To Care Your Natural Best
What to use:

  • Anti-humectants will seal your cuticles and prevent your hair from absorbing to much moisture. Especially when it's humid out.
  • Raw shea butter, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and palm oil are all great for acheiveing this goal.
  • Leave-in conditioners and moisturizers are great for providing your hair with moisture throughout the day but you also want to use a sealer such as Avacado oil to retain the moisture and prevent dryness.

Below are some products that are free of protein and also products that are protein based. Jojoba oils, extra virgin olive oils, mineral oils, and more also listed below. Feel free to try one, once you've determined which porosity your hair is of course!  Customer's reviews are also below so you can see for yourself that people are very pleased with these products!!! The only conditioner I’ve ever used in my life that doesn’t make my hair greasy. I have 2b/2c waves that are very low porosity and very fine. Constantly fought with greasy hair and dry ends since forever, first time in my life I’ve ever had my hair coming out looking clean and not dry/ greasy. Decent amount of slip, wish there was a little more but maybe it would weigh it down. Can’t recommend enough.

I have bra-strap length, protein-sensitive, low-porosity 3a/b hair and first fell in love with Shea Moisture when I tried their Raw Shea Butter conditioner. However, it felt a little too heavy on my hair and I figured out that I might have low-porosity hair, so I decided to give this line a try. I bought the shampoo, conditioner and leave-in detangler, and they are now my holy grail products! I use the shampoo about once a week and the rest of the time I use a different conditioner to co-wash and then apply this conditioner, because it doesn't go in my hair super easily if I haven't already shampooed it. I let it sit in my hair for about 3 minutes while I wash my face and body, then I partially rinse it out (try to get it off my roots, but leave it on the length of my hair as much as possible). Then I apply the leave-in detangler mixed with a bit of jojoba oil, and then my gel. Having low-porosity hair which seems to get weighed down very easily by too much product, I have to say it's magical how much I can't feel these products on my hair when it's dry. It feels completely clean and sooo soft! My curls easily last 2 days, maybe more, with just a bit of water for a refresh at night. The only things I would say is that like I mentioned, I don't love this conditioner as a co-wash, which I think is okay because the line has a shampoo as well. The other thing is that the smell wasn't my favorite at first - it is kind of masculine and woodsy-smelling because of the tree oils. However, I think the smell is growing on me, and I love love love the way my hair is so weightless and my curls so bouncy when I use this line. I've never experienced the tingly sensation others have mentioned with this line but that is not important to me. I also wish they had more products in this collection, such as a deep conditioner (this doesn't mention being able to use it as one?) and some other styling products, like maybe a gel. TLDR: Can highly recommend that anyone with low-porosity and/or protein-sensitive hair give this line a try!

I moisturize my 4C hair daily! I have low porosity hair and I've tried almost every product on the market. I moisturize in the morning and my hair is dry again in the evening! My hair even drinks edge gel. However, I am happy to report that I put this product on my hair on Sunday after washing and conditioning and it is still soft and flowing with moisture. I am going to buy a few more bottles, just in case you guys sell out or something!

When I received the serum, I thought "Oh, I'm going to have to send this back" because it's, kind of thick and the first ingredient is water, so I just knew it would make my un-relaxed natural hair "puff up and become fuzzy". Out of curiosity, I decided to try a little before sending it back and was SO glad I did. I was pleasantly surprised at how it 1) dissolved in my hand 2) had such a smooth texture 3) how it sleeked my hair and made it feel so silky 4) smelled so heavenly! Now, I still wouldn't put a lot of it on at one time due to the water content and my hair texture, but luckily, you don't have to because a little goes a long way! I haven't used it long enough to determine if it is actually strengthening, but I'll be keeping it, so I'm looking forward to finding out!

It is easy to use and I cannot believe how good this product is! It has given me hope! My hair is thin, frizzy and dry. After using it, I had compliments on my hair for the first time in YEARS! I wish someone had told me about this before. Very happy with it.
