The causes of dry, itchy scalp are varied. there may be internal and external triggers. Understanding this, is the first step towards improving and stabilizing the condition of your scalp.
When the natural moisture of the scalp is lost, the skin barrier can become permeable. If the natural moisture balance of the scalp is disturbed it can lead to Dry itchy scalp. Nutrition and your Hair
What you eat goes into your hair as well. Your scalp is also affected by your diet just like any other parts on your body. Remember, fruit's, fish, nut's and all things rich in vitamin's Protein and Omega are very good for the health of your scalp. Saturated fat, Processed foods, and refined products you can say good bye to them all.
Things you can do to help your Dry and Itchy scalp..........
It's best to use products that are free of sulfate's and silicone.
Sulfates: Detergents that produce foam
Silicone's: Accumulate on the surface of the scalp, clogging the pores and hair follicles.
You may also want to try a deep exfoliation from time to time.
The temperature of your washing water is also a major factor in your scalp's health. Do not use water that is very hot to the touch as it can strip your scalp of the protective barrier (as so does the rest of the skin on your body) and cause it to secrete more sebum. Water that is to cold is also not advised, due to the fact that your hair is not going to get as clean because the cold water can not remove all of the embedded Dirt build up.
Additionally, If you suffer from a greasy scalp, and have to itch frequently, you may be suffering from a fungus. Most often, the itch is caused by a too dry scalp. Maintain it once a week with a moisturizing hair cure.
