Tip 1:
After washing and conditioning your hair, apply a moisturizer and cover hair with a plastic cap. DO NOT blow dry hair. Let your hair dry naturally. Yes it may take a little longer than sitting under a hooded blow dryer or blow drying it yourself with a hand held, but it is worth having healthy hair.
The added benefit of not going under the dryer is that your hair bond is not broken down. Too much hot air will blow the hair cuticles so far open that even the best conditioners will fail to make a difference. If this application of heat happens on a regular basis then the cuticle layers will get damaged over and over again and the hair will lose its tensile strength and will break.
TIP 2:
If you have to blow dry your hair dry, be sure to use a heat protectant before blow drying. Heat protectants:
- prevent the breakdown of the proteins in the hair
- prevent the hair cuticles from cracking
- prevents the hair from loosing water in the hair strand
- and allows for the hair to maintain its strength after a heat treatment.
NEVER use appliances on dripping wet hair. Allow your hair to air-dry or towel dry your hair before you go under the dryer with medium or even low heat or flat iron. The reason why is because using heat on the hair when it is wet can cause what is known as the bubble effect. This is when the excess water on your hair practically boils on your hair shaft when direct heat is applied. To sum it up: the heat causes the water particles on the wet hair to literally boil and steam causing the hair cuticle to burst and leaves the hair with a sponge-like consistency. This leads to knots on the hair and this can eventually lead to breakage or split ends or even Alopecia.

oh great, thank you so much for the tips, I'll practice that with my karmin g3 which is very good too and causes less damage than others. :D
